You just chose the right answer.
Pt is one of the exceptions of The Eighteen Electron Rule who do not always
use 18 electrons, but often only 16 electrons.
(Phosphorus has 5 valence electrons, s2p3,
but 3 valence electrons are used to bond to 3 Propyl-groups, so there are
just 2 valence electrons left for the bonding with Fe. Br is a halogen
and therefore gives just one valence electron.)
Pt = 10e- (C6H5) = 1e- 2 x PPr3 = 4e- Br = 1e- =====> 16e- |
